LOG and INF files

TABLO produces a record of its work in files suffixed LOG and INF. TABmate reads the INF file to get error messages and deduce details of the model. Occasionally you will need to view the INF or LOG file yourself to identify an error -- search for %% to find them.

TABmate applies some special rules to files with LOG and INF suffixes. The rules are designed to ensure that such files are up-to-date records of the last time TABLO was run on a TAB file.

First, such files are opened as read only you cannot change them.

Second, when you open a TAB file, TABmate deletes matching LOG and INF files if they are older than the corresponding TAB files. If an up-to-date INF file is found, it is used to build a database about the TAB file.

Third, before TABmate runs TABLO, LOG and INF files matching the current TAB are closed (if open) and then deleted from disk. This ensures that LOG and INF files existing after TABLO has run were in fact created by that TABLO session.

Fourth, when you close a TAB file, TABmate also closes matching LOG and INF files if they are open in TABmate.

When viewing LOG and INF files, the Next Error button locates the next occurrence of %%;
