Using TABmate

Start TABmate and open a TAB file. Press the button marked TABLO Check. The status panel at the bottom of the TABmate window records TABLO's progress. When TABLO has finished, one of four things will happen:

1 If TABLO found errors, the location of each error is underlined in red. You can click on the underlined text to see the error message in the status panel. The Next Error button (marked with a red cross) takes you to the next error. Normally, you would fix the first few of these errors and run TABLO Check again. This cycle would be repeated until all errors were fixed.

2 TABLO may issue warnings without reporting errors. View the warnings by pressing the Warn button.

3 TABLO may report no problems.

4 Occasionally TABmate may report that there are errors, which it cannot locate. In that case use the INF and LOG buttons to see the corresponding report files. The Next Error button will search for errors and warnings in these files.

It is not always necessary to click the TABLO Check button. When a TAB file is opened, TABmate looks for a matching INF file. If an INF is found which has a later time-stamp than the TAB file, the existing INF is used to locate and mark errors.

Whenever TABLO is run from within TABmate, the current TAB file is saved to disk. Usually you will not need to explicitly save TAB files, since that happens automatically whenever the TABLO Check button is clicked.

Messages in the status bar at the bottom appear only for a limited time; click down there to recall the last message, if you missed it (or right-click to copy the message to clipboard).
