Hands-on Introduction to AnalyseGE

There are two hands-on introductions to AnalyseGE (that is, tutorials to teach you about using AnalyseGE). Each tells you how to use the main features of AnalyseGE in the context of a simulation. These hands-on documents contain sufficient detail for you to follow through the steps in the analysis on your own computer. The required files were put onto your computer when you installed AnalyseGE.

We strongly recommend that you work through at least one (preferably both) of these before you start using AnalyseGE to analyse the results of your own model.

1. Via a Simulation with the Stylized Johansen Model

This tutorial can be found in the chapter:

Using AnalyseGE to analyse simulation results

of the main GEMPACK manual.

This tutorial uses the simulation results in files SJLNALB.SL4 and SJLNALB.SLC. These files should be in the SJLNA subdirectory of the directory in which you installed AnalyseGE.

2. Via Simulations with the GTAP Model

This tutorial is contained in the paper

AnalyseGE: Software Assisting Modellers in the Analysis of Their Results

written by K.R. Pearson, Thomas W. Hertel and J. Mark Horridge. We recommend that you work from the version dated October 2002 (or later). This paper can be downloaded from here.

The first example in this tutorial uses the simulation results in files GTMSEUFG.SL4 and GTMSEUFG.SLC. These files should be in the GTAP1 subdirectory of the directory in which you installed AnalyseGE.

The second example in this tutorial analyses two related GTAP simulations. The relevant files are GC209-e1a.SL4,GC201-e1a.SLC and GC209-e1b.SL4,GC201-e1b.SLC. These files should be in the GTAP2 subdirectory of the directory in which you installed AnalyseGE.
