Shocks Files These files must have suffix .BSH for the base case (column 2) or suffix .PSH (for the policy simulations (column 4). These files are text files which contain GEMPACK Command file statements which together specify shocks. Any legal GEMPACK Command file statements beginning with the words shock, final_level, change, percent_change, ashock, tshock, subtotal, xset, xsubset, file, xfile, TFinal_Level, AChange, TChange, APercent_Change, TPercent_Change are allowed. [Other Command file statements are not allowed.] The actual numerical shocks can be specified directly in these files as in, for example, shock powtax = uniform 5 ; Alternatively, the shock values may be contained in other text files whose names are specified in the shock statement as in, for example, shock powtax = file ptax99.shk ; Please consult the GEMPACK User documentation for details about these Command file statements. Normally you put the shocks for different years on different files. However, if you are using Release 9 or later of GEMPACK, you can put shocks for several years on a single header in a Header Array file, and instruct RunDynam to read the shocks for the relevant year. In the Policy run, it is often desirable to use special forms of shock statements, including AShock, TShock, TFinal_Level, AChange, TChange, APercent_Change and TPercent_Change in the PSH files you prepare.
