Names of Results Files The main results files are •the Solution files produced for each year of each simulation. •the updated data files produced by each simulation. •the spreadsheet and cumulative solution or cumulative differences RSL files produced at the end of each run (Base, Rerun and Policy) by the spreadsheet job for that run. [The cumulative solution and cumulative difference RSL files are used to load results across all years into AnalyseGE.] The software names these according to the following system. In particular, notice that the Sim Names (as shown on the Sim Overview page) are important in determining these names. This system was changed with Version 3.1 (December 2003) when long file names were produced to assist with managing several different applications in the same directory. Prior to that, simple DOS-type 8.3 file names were used. The Solution file for each year has its name built up using the 3-character Sim Name (as specified on the Sim Overview page) for the relevant run and for all prerequisite runs. The last 4 characters in the name of the Solution file are the four digits in the year (eg, 2003). [The Command file written to solve the model has the same name as the Solution file.] For example, suppose that the 3-character Sim Names are BAS (Base), BR1 (Rerun) and PL1 (Policy), and suppose that you are doing the Rerun (that is, are rerunning the Base with the Policy Closures). Then •the name of the Solution file for year 2002 of the Base is BASB-2002.SL4. •the name of the Solution file for year 2002 of the Rerun is BASB-BR1R-2002.SL4. •the name of the Solution file for year 2002 of the Policy is BASB-BR1R-PL1P-2002.SL4 (or, if you are not rerunning the Base with the Policy closures, BASB-PL1P-2002.SL4). [A fourth letter is always added after the 3-character Sim Name. This is always B for the base case, R for the base case rerun or P for the policy deviation.] The names of the updated data files for each year are built up similarly except that the first 3 characters in their names come from the 3-letter Keys shown on the Other Files page. The names of the output data files (those produced via Write statements in the TAB file) for each year are built up similarly to those for the updated data files. They use the 3-letter Keys shown on the Other Files page. And, since Version 3.15 (November 2006), they include the starting data and final data years from the simulation which produces them. [This is because, since Release 9 of GEMPACK, Write statements can write pre-simulation or post-simulation values. Pre-simulation values relate to the starting year of the simulation while post-simulation values relate to the end year of the simulation, Output files may contain both pre-simulation and post-simulation values, which is why we show both years in the file name.] The names of the spreadsheet files produced at the end of each run are built up from the Sim Names for the relevant run and for all prerequisite runs. The names of the cumulative results RSL files and of the cumulative differences RSL file (these are Header Array files used to load results across all years into AnalyseGE) are very similar to those for the corresponding cumulative spreadsheet files, except that these files have suffix .RSL . Examples will make this clearer. URL of this topic: www.copsmodels.com/webhelp/rundynam/hc_solutionnames.htm Link to full GEMPACK Manual Link to GEMPACK homepage |
