Hardware and Software Requirements

Operating system

RunGTAP requires a X86-compatible PC running Microsoft Windows XP or later.

Memory

You will need at least 256Mb of RAM in addition to that required by your operating system. In practice this means that you will need at least 2GB of RAM. If you run versions with many commodities and regions, you may need yet more RAM.

Licensing

In essence RunGTAP is a free good which you use or share without payment. However, if you run versions with many commodities and regions, you may need a GEMPACK licence. See GEMPACK Licence May Be Required and GEMPACK Licence. You may also be charged if you wish to make use of the full (60+ regions, 57 sector) version of the GTAP database.

Hard disk

The installation requires around 100 Mb of free disk space. Another 20 megabytes may be needed during the solution process to store temporary files.

Read-Only Access

You might be able to run RunGTAP from a read-only network drive or CD-ROM. In each case the operation of RunGTAP will be restricted, since many procedures require that RunGTAP write to version subdirectories.

Installing on a network drive

You might be able to run RunGTAP from a network drive, but problems would arise if two people tried to use RunGTAP at the same time, since RunGTAP writes to version subdirectories (which would be shared network folders).
