Show annual average results

Access this option through the Special View menu (click on the green button at the left of the top tool bar to see it). The option is only enabled if you opened an SL4 (solution) file.

The effect of the command is to display percentage or ordinary change results which took place over N years as annual average changes.

For ordinary change results, this is equivalent to dividing results by N; for percentage change results, the displayed number is the annual average percentage change which (compounded over N years) would result in the simulated change.

If you select 'Show annual average results' you will be asked to specify N, the number of periods. Set N=1 to switch off annual averaging. If N>1, the bottom (status) panel of the Data window will tell you that annual averages are displayed (and tell you the number of years).

This option may be useful where you are viewing results from a 'one-shot' forecast where a single simulation computes changes over several years, say from 2015 till 2040 (25 years). The results then represent percentage or ordinary changes between 2015 and 2040. These changes may be quite large.  It may be preferable to view or report them as annual average changes.

You can right-click on an averaged number to see its original value.
