Modifying files

If you are in editing mode, ViewHAR allows you to modify files. You can create or delete data items or import them from other files. You can edit single cells by right-clicking on them or paste in matrices and vectors from the clipboard. ViewHAR automatically adds to the file history a record of your changes, but you can also edit the history yourself. You can save the modified file with the same or a different name.

ViewHAR also has two safety features. First, you can edit the file as much as you like, but no changes are committed to disk until you save the file. Second, ViewHAR never actually alters or deletes an existing disk file. If you alter a file, then save it with the same name, the previous version of the file is not overwritten but renamed.
