Tab Expansion

Some people (or editing programs) have an odd habit: they enter tab characters (instead of spaces) into their TAB files. By default, TABmate changes tabs into spaces as you type, but there may be tab characters in your file from using some other editor.

You can replace the tabs with spaces by using the Tools..Expand Tabs command. This should not change the appearance of your file within TABmate, but it might fix up some confusing behaviour.

By default TABmate displays lines with tabs as though tab stops were set every 4th column. Use Edit..Properties to change this (maybe from 4 to 8).

CHANGE JAN 2003

Due to user demand, TABmate will now allow you to put tabs into your text file. Use the Edit..Properties...Use Tab character setting to activate this feature. If Use Tab character is ON, TABmate will NOT change tabs into spaces as you type
