Condensation

GTAP has far too many variables and equations to solve in its original form. The model must be condensed to become soluble. Condensation consists of:

omitting exogenous variables that will not be shocked.

substituting out matrix variables using matrix equations: the variables must be endogenous and will not appear on the results.

backsolving is like substituting except that the substituted variables appears in the results (but must be endogenous).

You can view the file containing the condensation instructions: it will be of interest mainly to GEMPACK experts. See also un-omitting variables.
