Using Version Archives

Each version corresponds to a subdirectory of the RunGTAP directory. The subdirectory has the same name as the version and contains a collection of files that make up the version. RunGTAP allows you to store the whole collection as a compressed (ZIP) archive. You can also load such an archive to create a new RunGTAP version.

Version archives are most useful if you have made a habit of saving your experiments immediately after successful simulations. In that case the version archive will enable you to repeat these experiments.

You could use version archives in several ways:

(a) Create an archive as a snapshot of your work.

(b) Create an archive on floppy disk that you post to another RunGTAP user. They can load the archive as a new version and then replicate all your simulations (as long as as their version of RunGTAP is not too old).

(c) Create a new version based on the current version. First save the current version (say, MYMODEL) as an archive. Then load that archive with a new version name (say, MYMODEL2). The current RunGTAP version will then be MYMODEL2.

(d) Create a backup version based on the current version - which you propose to alter. First save the current version (say, MYMODEL) as an archive. Then load that archive with a new version name (say, OLDMODEL). The current RunGTAP version will then be OLDMODEL. Use the Version..Change command to go back to MYMODEL.
