Backup Files

TABmate writes the currently visible file to disk whenever you use the Save or Save As commands. It also automatically saves the TAB file, if modified, whenever you run TABLO. However, existing disk images are not deleted or overwritten instead they are renamed to MATEnnn.BAK, where nnn is a number. This is signalled in a message appearing in the caption bar at the top of TABmate. Also, the Options..Backups menu command produces a list of the backup files created during the current session.

You could delete the BAK files, if they become too numerous. By default, TABmate automatically deletes BAK files which are more than 2 days old -- see Code and other Options.

Save Errors

An error occurs if the file to be saved cannot be altered or renamed. This might occur if the same file was simultaneously open in another program, such as MSWord.

See also LOG and INF files they are treated differently.
